Sea to Skye - c 2015

SEA to SKYE

Sea to Skye is a elegant wrap/cardigan that is worn short in the front and long in the back. The lacy, ruffled collar encompasses the entire cardigan, making it an interesting garment to knit.

Worked in one piece from the collar edge down, Sea to Skye requires only intermediate knitting skills. Increases, decreases, and a few short rows are the only requirements needed to shape the yoke and body. If you have shied away from patterns that include short rows, please try to get your courage up and try the shadow wrap short row method. You will never fear short rows again. This pattern includes a tutorial explaining the shadow wrap method but there are also plenty of resources on the web for you to follow.

This pattern also includes full instructions for shortening the cardigan. If you are working the shorter version, please follow the instructions given in blue.

A note on modifications: Please be aware that the length of this cardigan cannot be modified, because of the way the side seams are designed. Therefore it is of utter importance that your row gauge be accurate, and that you measure for length before casting on. If you discover that your cardigan is too long when you reach the hem, you will be very frustrated, since shortening would mean frogging all the way back to the cast on at the neck edge. If you are of a petite build or would simply prefer a shorter back length, please follow the instructions for the shorter version in blue.
